lais de corinthe par hans holbein le jeune dépeint le célèbre lais de corinthe , une courtisane de la grèce antique qui a fait payer un prix élevé pour ses faveurs . il a été suggéré que holbein fait également référence au lais qui était l'amant d'apelles , le grand peintre de l'antiquité ( Holbein a été appelé " Apelles " dans les cercles humanistes ) . Le modèle , le même utilisé pour Holbein's darmstadt madonna et pour sa vénus et amor , a été identifié comme magdalena offenburg , qui a pu être Holbein's maîtresse .
